Terms of Service

These Terms are an agreement between you and CybrIT GmbH ("we", "us") for using myownstory.ai (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Accounts

• You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. Children may use the Service only through a parent or guardian's account, with that adult's permission and supervision.
• You're responsible for your account, your login details and your grown-up PIN, and for how the kids you add use the Service.
• Give us accurate information, and keep your email address up to date so we can reach you.

2. Your family's content

The ideas, text, recordings and other material your kids put in, and the books made from them ("Your Content"), belong to you and your family, to the extent the law allows. You give us a limited permission to store, process, display and print Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you — for example, to send it to our AI and printing providers, or to show a book to people you share it with. This permission ends when you delete the content, except for copies we must keep by law or that are already in a printed order.

AI-generated text and pictures may not be protected by copyright in every country, and similar pictures may be generated for other users. We don't claim ownership of your books, and you're free to print, share and keep them for personal use.

3. AI-generated content

Stories, illustrations and narration are created with artificial intelligence. We use safety instructions and content checks designed to keep everything kid-friendly, but AI can make mistakes: a picture may look odd, a story may not match what your kid asked for, or, rarely, something may be inappropriate. Please review books with your child, and tell us at privacy@myownstory.ai if anything isn't right.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't use the Service to:

• create content that is violent, sexual, hateful, harassing, or otherwise not suitable for children;
• include other people's private information (like full names with addresses) or upload content you don't have the right to use;
• try to get around safety checks, usage limits or payment, or automate, scrape, or overload the Service;
• break any law.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we'll try to tell you why.

5. Plans, billing and cancellation

• Free plan: a limited number of books, as described on our pricing page.
• Premium: billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe, and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; Premium stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
• Fair use: to keep the Service affordable, accounts have monthly limits on AI usage. Normal family use stays well within them.
• Refunds: subscription fees aren't refundable for partial periods, because the AI costs of making books are real, except where the law requires otherwise.
• Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers): you can withdraw from a new Premium subscription within 14 days of buying it by emailing privacy@myownstory.ai. If you ask us to start Premium straight away and use it during those 14 days, we may deduct an amount proportionate to what you used. Printed books are made to your specifications, so the right of withdrawal doesn't apply to them.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing period.

6. Printed books

Printed books are made to order and shipped by our printing partner, Lulu. Prices, shipping costs and estimated delivery times are shown before you pay. If a book arrives damaged or with a printing defect, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll reprint it or refund you. Because each book is custom-made, we can't accept returns for other reasons. Printed books show the AI-generated content as it appeared when ordered.

7. Sharing

If you create a share link, anyone who has it can view that book and order a copy. You're responsible for who you share it with. You can ask us to turn off a share link at any time.

8. Ending your account

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account at privacy@myownstory.ai. We may suspend or end accounts that break these Terms or misuse the Service. If we ever shut the Service down, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can download your books.

9. Disclaimers and limits

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available or free of errors, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you by email before they take effect. Using the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

11. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Principality of Liechtenstein. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts. Questions?
